Asexuality Survey for Large-scale Scientific Research – Participants Needed!

I’m conducting a research project exploring asexual experiences and the many ways people experience attraction, intimacy, relationships, embodiment, spirituality, kink/BDSM, and neurodivergence.

The questionnaire is based on three previous theoretical papers:
 

• Asexual Phenomenology: The Model of the Mediated Perception of One’s Own Sexuality and Compulsory Allosexual Performativity
• The Asexual Body: Phenomenology, Normativity, and the Ontological Decentralization of the Sexual in Contemporary Experience
• Post-Sexuality: Between ACE Experience, Contemporary Spirituality, Kink Dissidences of Desire, and Technological Transcendence

 
The study is not about determining what asexuality should look like, nor about diagnosing or categorizing anyone. It focuses on lived experience: what you actually feel, how you experience your body and relationships, how you understand attraction and intimacy, and how social expectations may or may not correspond to your experience.
 
The questionnaire also explores experiences that are sometimes less represented in discussions of asexuality, including non-sexual intimacy, unconventional relationships, kink/BDSM, spirituality, contemplative practices, and neurodivergence.
 
The responses will be analyzed collectively and statistically to develop a series of future studies:
 

• Asexual Phenomenology II
• Post-Sexuality II
• Asexuality and BDSM
• Asexuality and Neurodivergence
• Asexuality and Spirituality

 
The theoretical models are exploratory, so the results may support, refine, complicate, or challenge the ideas proposed in the previous papers.
 
After completing the questionnaire, you will receive an email with the results, and you will be able to consult the general response statistics through “View previous responses.” The results of the subsequent statistical analyses and research will also be shared with you in the future (via AVEN or elsewhere).
 
If you are ace-spectrum, questioning, or simply have relevant experiences you would like to contribute, your perspective is welcome. There are no “right” answers, and you do not need to fit any particular idea of what an asexual experience is supposed to be.
